Why Dell Joined the PC Gaming Alliance

At Dell, we are very serious about PC gaming and the intricately customer experience that is tied to it, and simply stated, Dell saw the PCGA as a great opportunity to improve the PC gaming experience for consumers.
We believe there is a huge value to working together with other OEM's, IHV's, ISV's and Publishers from all aspects of the PC Gaming ecosystem and harnessing that intellectual horsepower to further improve the experience for the customer. Sharing ideas, focusing on specific industry issues that affect the entire gaming and technology industry and putting plans together that are beneficial to everyone. One thing that became very evident to Dell in the 2007 time frame was that complex issues such as piracy and hardware/software compatibility require a focused industry-wide effort.
Dell feels strongly about establishing a gaming performance benchmark that can be used to identify a systems' capability to play games and developing a set of guidelines for game developers that complement this system metric. This creates a buying experience for the customer that will help take a lot of the guesswork out of determining if a specific game will run on their specific PC. In other words, an easy way to match the software to the hardware.
Dell believes a forum like the PCGA is required to help open up the communications between all the stake holders in the PC Gaming industry. All of this leads to a better customer experience and fits well with Dell's basic tenets of giving the customer a superior experience.
